Little Sicko

Well, K has her first real cold and it has been quite the doozy. We went back to the doctor today because it doesn't sound like she is getting any better and he gave her some medication to take that will hopefully clear it up. It is hard to hear her feeling so sick, but she still doesn't show it in her attitude. She is so happy all of the time that it is hard to tell when she is sick. She has been acting puny, but for the most part she is acting like everything is normal. She has learned to make razzing sounds with her tongue and teeth and she does it all of the time now. It is so neat to see her develop these new skills. She is also learning how to eat veggie and fruit puffs. Those two little teeth aid in this process. Please just pray for her because we hate to see her feeling less than normal.

Just Being Crazy

K is just enjoying her time on the blanket. She is so much more aware of her surroundings now. It definitely makes life more interesting.
I'm one crazy little girl. Mommy doesn't know how to put my shorts on obviously. I haven't trained her properly, but I am working on it.

Fun Saturdays

K enjoys sitting up on the couch now. I think she feels like a big girl.
Mommy sure does squeeze me tight. You'd think she loves me or something:)
These pictures are for the people I work with. I guess K is an Indian by birth, or a Lion by location. It's a toss up I guess. I don't think she really cares one way or the other. As far as she is concerned, it is just one more blanket to drool on.

Well, it is a lazy Saturday. K and I are just enjoying ourselves. We don't have anywhere to go to and Aunt Amy is coming to hang out with us this afternoon. Mom and dad are moving into their new house and they hope to spend the first night tonight. I know they are really excited and we do wish we there to see the new house. Christmas will be lots of fun and K will have more places to explore this year.

K is already showing great taste in music. We are listening to country music on the radio and just laying around. We don't want overdo it or anything:) Momma G and Poppa G are coming to stay with us next weekend all the way to Thursday. K will be staying with them at the house instead of going to day care and I am sure they will have a great time with her.

Attack of the Killer K!!!

Here is K attacking daddy's finger. She is so vicious you have to watch out! She might try to take off your finger with those two little fangs.

Our Little Mozart

K is learning to push things and she is working on the cause and effect of things. She keeps us on our toes. I haven't put anything up in awhile, but K now has two teeth!!! It is amazing and a little sad. Our little rose is just getting too big too fast. We have also finished another week of therapy and she did fairly well with the occupational therapist, but she didn't do so hot with the physical therapist. She definitely had a not so quite good day that day. Things are going well here and we will let you know how she is doing. We are just enjoying ourselves. Parenthood is great!

Shriners Appointment

Where to start?
  1. We were able to get the x-rays done on her spine. She has scoliosis and we will be meeting with a doctor in October about this. She may need a brace, but she may not. They were not able to tell us much more about this than come back in a few months. The good news about this is that the doctor we will be seeing is the same one that was over the treatment for her hip displacia. He is a good doctor and K likes him.

  2. We will also be meeting with a geneticist or group of geneticists in October as we already knew, but we need to probably be anticipating an ultrasound on some of her organs to make sure there is nothing wrong with them. We were told that sometimes when you have a child with as many things as K has going on that there is often a syndrome that is at the root of it all. To find this out they will be looking for things like a horseshoe shaped kidney or an abnormal heart. While they mentioned these things to us they assured us (not that it does much good) that she is fine because she is developing well.

  3. K will have surgery on December 19. K will be having two surgeries that we are aware of at this point. They will be removing part of the band on the first surgery as well as doing some things to begin separating the pad of her hand from her palm. The second surgery will be planned later.
It was once again a long visit and we are glad we went, but it is one of those things where there are mixed emotions. We know God has a plan and He is in control, but it does not always mean that the plan is easy to go along with while you live it out personally. It is so easy to be self-centered in life and this situation is no different. Both Christa and I struggle with this whenever we go to Shriners because there always seems to be something else. Today for example is good because we now know when the first surgery will be done, but now we also know our daughter may have to wear another brace for her back as well as the possibility of having a horseshoe kidney or an abnormal heart or something along those lines. Through it though, Christa and I are most concerned about K and not being self-centered in that. We want what is best for her, but it is very frustrating when our journey to a normal childhood keeps being extended at each turn. I know that God knows what He is doing and I pray that through this we learn what He wants us to learn. I also pray that K will come through fine and I know that she will be just fine. Please keep us and K in prayer as we go down this interesting road.

Bathtime Fun

So I was sitting here looking at pictures of my daughter enjoying her bath time and I thought I would share this cute picture with you. K loves this time in the water. She is quite the little fish. We are still a little under the weather here, but the cold is clearing. K wants to sleep quite a bit, which is helping with the cold issue. My sister is here now and she is getting adjusted to the college life on campus. I know she will do just fine, but it is quite the adjustment.

K is sitting up better now and she moves her right arm a lot more. Her first tooth has made its debut and it is definitely sharp. She is already trying to use it when she eats crackers and her cherry stars. She is growing up way too fast. Right now she is watching me type on the computer. She wants to be where you are at all times. It is exciting and sad to see her become older. God has given us such a wonderful gift in this little rose. I wouldn't trade any moment with her for the world.

Come See Me Soon!

Grandmom and granddaddy had to go home today:( We will really miss them and I know that they wish they were here. After all, I am so cute who could resist?

Busy Saturday

K and Momma G were having a great conversation this morning. Nate put Momma G on speaker phone and K tried to eat the phone. She pushed a few buttons to show that she is ready for her own phone.
We have recieved some calls from PETA. They seem to have come concerns in regard to K's unethical treatments of seals. I think they will have a hard time prying it from K's fingers.

K is also learning to eat cracker fragments and finger foods that melt in her mouth. So far she is doing well but she seems to have a hard time keeping them in her mouth at times. It is fun to watch.

What a face!

Good-Bye Small Pajamas!

Well, K has outgrown her Winnie the Pooh sleeper. It was a great little outfit, but she is just getting to be such a big girl that we have to graduate to something bigger. I really wanted to put a post to let everyone know how she is doing. It has been awhile since I put an update about how she is doing healthwise. She has had a little cold for a few days now, but she is getting better. We go on Monday to meet with the doctors at Shriner's for an x-ray. She had met with her physical and occupational therapists and the physical therapist wanted us to get a cervical spinal x-ray before she started doing some intensive stretches on K's neck. This is a precautionary measure, but one we wanted to get done as soon as possible. Because we will be there on Monday, they have already scheduled us to meet with K's surgeon (the one who will be doing the surgeries on her hand). We don't know what all will happen on that day, but we hope that they might give us some more answers on her surgeries and when we can schedule the first one. It is hard to believe that we are creeping up on a year already! She is growing so fast that sometimes it feels like I have blinked and she grew an inch! Right now she is sleeping on grandmom, which I think is something that grandmom is enjoying immensely!

Aunt Amy is going to Toccoa Falls College now and so mom and dad came up here to drop her off. Pray for them because this is going to be an adjustment. Their new house is pretty much finished so they may be moving in this next week! That means Christmas for K in a brand new house. One ready for her to demolish:) Of course, she is such an angel she would never dream of doing such a thing. We will keep all of you posted as to how Monday's appointment goes. Thank you for your prayers!

Sorry for the Delay

K is sitting up really well now. She is trying her hardest to do it on her own, but it is taking a little time.
Daddy went out to buy this for me. He said it was too expensive, but as you can see he bought it anway:)
Grandmom and K are just spending time together.
Look at those beautiful blue eyes. She is enjoying her world more and more each day. She is cutting her first tooth!!!

Working Those Legs

Mommy and K are enjoying the weekend. K touches everything now and she tries to put whatever it is in her mouth. She also knows exactly what will make mommy and daddy melt. It is easy to do when you are the cutest baby in the world.
K has now discovered that she has two feet. She hasn't quite figured out how to put those toes in her mouth, but she is definitely working at it.
Aren't those eyes amazing? Sometimes they just take my breath away.
Here our little rose is trying her hardest to stand. She puts weight on her legs fairly well now. It is amazing how much she has grown now that she is able to be out of the brace. We are so thankful she can move.

Adventures of K

K has discovered her dog. She loves touching her every chance she gets. It was great when we took this picture because she had been turning over to reach the dog. It was adorable.

Can you get more beautiful than this? I don't think so. She does have daddy wrapped around her finger.

K also has been rolling over a lot. She was leaning on my left shoulder and moved to this position on her own. She is a maniac! Such fun!
Here K has given her first try at standing. She isn't good at it yet. She lasted for a few seconds and then I had to catch her. She loves standing in her crib.

Growing Up Too Fast!

K and Twinkie are enjoying a bonding experience. K seems to enjoy petting Twinkie now because she has become obsessed with textures.
Here K is drinking out of a big person's cup. She wants to do everything we do now. She is working on sitting by herself and she can do it for a few seconds before she falls over. Her legs are definitely getting stronger. You can't turn away from her for a second because she scoots everywhere now. One minute she's playing with her gym and the next she is touching the coffee table! She has some major muscles in those legs. She can take care of herself without any problem. Her head is also definitely improving and she is holding it straighter every day. Today at daycare, I came in and found K on a blanket and all of the other children were gathered around her. All she was doing was playing with her toy, but you'd think it was absolutely amazing by the look of the other children. She is getting a little spoiled with all of this attention. She deserves it though.

I Love My Mommy

K and I are hanging out today as Christa is at school with students for the first day this year. K of course misses her mommy, but she is doing great. She is not being too fussy without her. Above is a pic of her playing in her pack-n-play. Her shirt says Mommy Loves Me. She was having fun chewing on the tabs of her book.
Just last Friday K tried a new way of drinking. How fun! She likes having a handle to help hold her juice.
Above is a picture of K playing peek-a-boo with me. Since she has figured out the game she has become quite the competition in this game. We were playing right before this picture was taken and she turned her head and would not look back at me. She then started to giggle when enough time had passed and she still had not looked at daddy. After a minute she peeked to see if I was still there and to confirm that she still had the upper hand. She did and she smiled because she realized she had a captive audience in daddy.

Momma and Poppa G

K and Momma G are enjoying their time with each other. Momma G and Poppa G only got to be here for a short time. Hopefully they will be coming to visit soon!
Poppa G is quite the storyteller. K felt the desire to just eat her book rather than read it. Friends of Momma and Poppa G gave it to her just because she is so cute. Who could resist?
K tried out a sippy cup for the first time last night. As you can see, she had to figure out where to get the juice from, but she quickly caught on. She's such a smart little girl. She even used her right hand to hold it up to her mouth.

Doctor Update

K and Daddy enjoy their reading time. K helps hold the book with her foot.
K really wants a piece of that cobbler. A little bit longer baby girl.
Yummy Yummy!
We got back from the pediatrician and K weighed in at 13 pounds and 9 ounces. She was also 25 inches long. She was in the 25th percentile for her length, a little below the 5th in weight, and she was above in circumference of her head, 17 inches! All that baby food is going straight to her brain. We also got shots and that wasn't any fun. She is doing better and I think all of that meat on her legs helped out. We also met with the Babies Can't Wait lady and K will be getting both physical and occupational therapy in the next few weeks. It will be twice a week for an hour each. That is a huge praise because we didn't want to try to search out therapists from other organizations. It was pretty great! She goes to daycare tomorrow for the first time and I am dreading it. I know she will be just fine, but I don't know how I will hold up:) Prayers would be greatly appreciated.
