What a DAY!!!

I tried to find the soup, but nothing...daddy tricked me.
Okay, so I really don't know where to start here. K was supposed to have pre-op today at the Shriners to prepare her for her second surgery next Thursday. She woke up this morning with congestion, cough, and fever. We were afraid that they would say no to the surgery, but we believed that it must be connected with the three new molars that we discovered this morning. Surely that was the reason for all of this horrible yuckiness and so Nate took her to Shriners anyway. The anaesthesiologist told Nate that he didn't want to go through with the surgery until she was better and he recommended that we take K to the pediatrician because her lungs didn't sound so good. The surgery was put off until May 8. Nate then took her to the doctor and we discovered that K has asthma. She is now on several medications and we also have to give her breathing treatments every four to six hours. She has already had twp treatments and she seems to be doing better. Little much to take in in the last few hours, but K seems to be feeling a little better. She isn't in her brace tonight because we just wanted to make sure she was able to breathe fine. We will keep all of you posted as to how she is doing. Her aunt jokingly commented tonight that with her eleven teeth she can now eat steak. Sounds like a plan.

Mission Impossible

Silly daddy! He put my box of fish on the coffee table. Fishies! Mmmmm!

Ha! It is not as easy as I thought. I cannot reach them from this side. Must get them. Fishies, Mmmm! Hmm. What to do?

Gotta go to the other side. I can get them from there. I know it! Fishies, Mmmm!
I must not take my eyes off the box. Keep the eyes on the box. Don't get distracted! Fishies, Mmmm!
Almost there! I can taste them already. Fishies, Mmmm!
Awe man! I cannot get them from this side either. I guess daddy isn't as silly as I thought.
Hmm, I wonder what they left up here that I can put in my mouth?
Awe man! Foiled again. Nothing. All this work for absolutely nothing!!! Its not easy being a kid.

Miss Independent

I don't need any help. I'm just resting. I am practicing on the swimming technique I will use in the pool this summer. I'm not stuck. I know exactly what I'm doing.
K took her first steps on her own this past week. We have it on video, but we will have to get it ready to post in the next few days. She has to be given treats to get her to do it, but she will walk at least 3 to 4 steps on her own. The first times were with goldfish. Those always seem to motivate her. I just hope that will continue to be the case when she's 16. I am a little skeptical, but I think goldfish will always be the key:)

Back from L.A. (Lower Alabama)

I enjoyed my time in Alabama. Check below to see how much fun I had!
I tried out the beach towel look. I think it made me look thinner. What do you think?
Here is Uncle Eric the beach towel monster and I am a female version of "Frankie Sinatra."
I tried strawberries while in LA and I REALLY REALLY like them!!!
I love my Uncle Eric! I love him so much that I bestowed my very first kiss on his cheek Friday! It was perfect. Now I am a kissing fiend! Watch out or I will get you.
I'm modeling an outfit that was given to me by...Uncle Eric! During our weekend in Alabama, it was very apparent that K loves her Uncle Eric. I don't know what it is about him, but she had fun just watching him sneak up on her. Kids always love Eric, but K just seemed to think he was one big teddy bear!

Busy Lives Busy Baby

Daddy had fun with my hair. Like my mohawk? Life has been busy the past few days, but they have been better. K is adjusting to the brace during the day and she is becoming more mobile with it on. She walks with her walker, cruises along the coffee table, and just enjoys eating anything in sight. We are either growing up or out or both. She is our bottomless pit.
Proof that K really is our daughter. She loves mushrooms! She ate a few of them and seemed to enjoy them. She is a mess.

Our Little Adventure

Who would have known that when K was about to go out today I would not be able to find K's favorite shoes. I rushed around the house looking for her shoes and had to settle for her non-flashing low top shoes. For the life of me I could not find her new flashy pink high tops that she loves oh so much.

Fast forward to this afternoon after the house has been searched several times. Mommy enters the picture. I was convinced that she would know where K's shoes were. Nope! It was even mentioned that I may have let her kick them off in the cart at the store I took her to the other day. Mommy searched the house several times. We both searched the cars. We could not find the shoes in spite of the fact that they have flashing lights on them!

After giving up on the quest for K's cool kicks, I realized there was only one place in the entire house we have not looked for her shoes. Mommy went to investigate and here is her crime scene footage.

That stinker!!!

Working...Working...

K has forgiven the walker. She had a run in with it yesterday, it let go of her and she was harboring some bitter feelings towards it. All has been forgotten for it is a new day. She is wearing her brace in this picture, but as you can see we have enough toys to take her mind off of it. She is coping well and we couldn't be prouder of her. One of my students pointed out today that she couldn't stand wearing something like that all of the time. I told her that K was a trooper and she said "she has to be." All I can say is that K is so strong, stronger than she knows. That strength is truly God given because God knows what she will need in the future. Thank you all for praying!

Going Good

Here are some pictures of K in the past two days. Some are in the brace and some are out. We have figured out that we are going to make the most of the time out of the brace and some of the pictures show it. She loves her toys and especially Elmo. Oh yeah, K discovered Spaghetti O's and you can see she likes them.

After some medicine, K's reaction seems to have gone away. It is nothing like her reaction to penicillin. She also spent seven hours in her brace today so we are going to try having her brace on all night tonight and see how she handles it.

Complicated K

So, just when K starts acting like her brace is tolerable she eats the eggs daddy made for her breakfast. Allergic reaction time. What a bummer! She is still in good spirits and she is not on any prescription medication this time. Hopefully she will not spend the next week covered in hives like last time. Wow! I think she stays up late at night plotting mommy and daddy's next adventure.

Home from the Shriners

Here are some pictures of the brace. K is doing alright so far with it. She has spent at least 3 hours at a time in it. She sleeps very well in it. The awake part seems to be the hardest because she wants to be constantly on the move. We are glad to be home, but Nate and I are exhausted. It doesn't feel like it will be over for quite awhile. We have to work on putting the brace on throughout the night and she still hasn't been in it all night. That is still a ways away. The only real positive news we received today is the fact that the neurosurgeon doesn't believe her "dangling tonsils" are an issue. He wants to scan them in a year, but he was pretty positive about it. Thank goodness for some good news. We needed it.
K is getting to walk with her overalls. We are going to have to get a size or two bigger in these so that she can continue to work on walking. Most of her clothes no longer fit her because of the brace. Guess we will be heading to Wal-Mart or Target!
