Pictures to Share

You can't tell, but K's little dress says "Little Rosebud." How appropriate is that?
Here K is showing how she has not quite mastered the art of independent sitting. She is trying her hardest though.
K found a new way to use her floor gym. Not only does she get practice standing, but she gets to enjoy gnawing on the top part as well!
K and mommy are enjoying their time at home. Mommy is not looking forward to being away from her little rose.
We finally put the attachment on the swing and K enjoyed moving the little pieces around. She is such a smart little girl.
Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, I give to you the Auburn family:) I couldn't resist when I was in Alabama. For some reason, Georgia does not carry Auburn football gear. Go figure on that one:) K has her pediatrician appointment tomorrow and she gets her shots. Not looking forward to that. We will also be finishing up the paperwork to get a therapist here to work with K. They have said that it will be once a week and possibly more. We will do whatever we have to for our little girl. I go back to work on Wednesday and I am not looking forward to it at all. I think my department head would understand. I have gotten to spend so much time with my beautiful little girl and I can tell already that I will be ready to go home in the afternoons and I will be waiting for the weekends! Plus, there are breaks that I have to look forward to. It has been a good summer and I am thankful.

The Amazing Feats of K!

K successfully rolled over onto her tummy and back last night. Everyone except granddaddy got to see it! It was really neat to see. She has been doing it secretly the past two days. We turn around and she is on her stomach and we didn't know how she got there. She is a sneaky little girl! She is also working on sitting up. She does crunches and you can tell she desperately wants to sit up like the big people. She does so many amazing things and it is neat to know that I have the rest of my life to see them!
Well, K hasn't really gotten to swim much more because it was so hot in Alabama. Imagine that, too hot to swim! That didn't stop her from modeling her cool suit! She looks adorable if I do say so myself. I had her in Uncle Eric's room when he came home from work and I told him he had a swimsuit model in his room:) He didn't seem to mind it one bit!

Home From Africa!!!

Daddy brought K back an interesting present. Sasha showed me how to wrap her like the women do in Ghana and it was quite an interesting experience. I don't quite know if K enjoys it or not. I felt like she was going to fall off of my back. We are definitely glad that daddy is home in one piece! He had quite an adventure getting back, but I will let you hear it from him in a later post.
Sasha didn't get to spend much time with K, but I think they bonded. We enjoyed having the opportunity to share our little girl with her.
Grandmom and granddaddy had to leave us for Alabama today and we will sure miss them. I am so glad for the two weeks I was able to spend with them and I know K enjoyed herself as well. They will be back in a few weeks to drop my sister Amy off at college so they will get to see her again. I know it is hard to be away from her and I am thankful that they were able to have this time. Mom and dad went with me yesterday to the therapy evaluation and things went very well. K qualifies for the therapy, which means they will be coming to the house once a week if not more to work with her. They did a lot of developmental tests on her and they told us that she is delayed a little with her fine and gross motor skills, but that is to be expected with the brace. Her cognitive development however is great. They said she is very bright and social, which was not news to us:) They seem to think that she will be able to catch up quickly because she is so bright. That was encouraging to hear. She is a wonderful little girl and I am glad we are going to get her more help. Thank you for the prayers and keep them coming!!!

To Georgia We Go

Well, there are no pictures for today because I had to pack up everything for our trip. We are heading back to Georgia today with my mom and dad. I think they got a little spoiled having K around for these past two weeks. Nate is probably in the air right now and he will be getting into Atlanta around 2 tomorrow afternoon. Needless to say, he is ready to see his girls and we are ready to see him! I go back to work next week and I need prayer because I don't want to leave my little girl:( I know she will be fine, but I have gotten to be with her all summer and I think that I myself have been a little spoiled. She is just adorable I don't want to miss a moment. Hope all of you are having a great day and I will try to get pictures up tomorrow. We go to Gainesville for K's evaluation at Babies First. This is an early prevention program that offers therapy at home. We hope to get started on that for K's arm and her neck as well.

Reading Time

K is spending her summer days reading the classics. It is absolutely adorable.

Moments to Cherish

K is modeling her lovely red outfit. Red is a beautiful color on her. I think this is the only outfit she has that isn't pink:) Just kidding.
Here K and Uncle Eric are bonding. K finds Eric's beard fascinating and she likes to pull on it. I don't think he minds too much though.
Here my little diva is enjoying her food. People ask how she is so chubby and what can I say, she loves her food.
Granddaddy and K are spending some quality time together. K went to sleep on him and I think he might have enjoyed it just a little bit. We will be going home on Wednesday and daddy will be coming home on Thursday. Nate can't wait to see his girls. We can't wait either.

Summertime Fun

Here is K chewing on her dragonfly. She enjoys it because it is crinkly sounding.
Here is K just gazing in wonder at the television. We try to avoid letting her watch it too much.
As you can see, K still keeps her legs like they are in the brace. It is funny because she looks like a little frog. She is doing really well now and she is actually sleeping between 10 and 12 hours a night and also taking a 3 hour nap in the morning. What can I say, she loves her sleep.

To Daddy With Love

K and Uncle Eric enjoy just hanging out together. She is just too cute sometimes.
Here is K enjoying her little Bumbo. She holds the little center piece and scratches it like an old man scratching his belly. It is so funny to watch.
Here is K after she successfully rolled to the side to get the dragonfly that is attached to this mirror. The mat was elevated a little so that helped, but she did most of the moving on her own.
Here K is holding onto her little rings. She sticks everything in her mouth now. Even noses. Not an enjoyable experience when she starts gumming it. A little on the slimy side.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

K spent today just rollin' around. She hasn't figured out yet that all she has to do is pull her arm out and land on her stomach. I tried tempting her with a rattle, but it didn't work. She just likes rocking back and forth. Nate emailed us and told us that they are waiting on paint and hopefully he will call me tomorrow. It hasn't been easy not getting to talk to him for a few days. K and I can't wait to hear from him.

K's Stylin'

K wore this adorable outfit to church today. One of the ladies at Genesis bought her this little "hoochey mama" outfit. The skirt was a little bit big, but she still looked adorable, of course. Nate has arrived safely at the hospital and we hope to hear from him soon.

These are For You Daddy

Daddy,
We miss you so much. Here are some pictures to show you her pretty dress. It was absolutely adorable and everyone thought I was beautiful. Mommy fed me sweet potatoes today and I finished the entire jar. Then I had some carrots too. I miss you daddy. Bring me back a monkey from Africa! Honey, we can't wait for you to get home. Bathtime is not the same without you. We have our routine and it just isn't the way it used to be. I love you and look forward to hearing from you soon.

The Adventures of...

Well, K and I have had quite the adventure here in Alabama and Nate is having his own adventures as well. K and I got to my parents' house only to find that the air conditioner is out. It will have to replaced on Monday. As a result, we are currently living with my Aunt Alice. Needless to say, it has been a little crowded. Nate also has had some fiascos with his flights and I am waiting to hear from him. We are not looking foward to being away from him for so long, but he will have a great time ministering I am sure. I will keep all of you posted, but pictures will be a little delayed because I can't upload pictures here. God bless you all.

To My Girls

Daddy loves you and misses you. K, you are the most precious kid I have ever seen. I cannot wait to hold you in my arms again. Be good for mommy and your grandparents.

Love,
Daddy

Attack of the K

K viciously attacked the poor innocent Pooh. Some day she will regret her militant ways, but right now she seems to think that Pooh has done her some grievous wrong.

Cuz Sash

Well, K's cuz Sasha (sash as in a window sash) came to our house today. I picked her up in Atlanta for our trip to Ghana, West Africa later this week. So, K got to see her for the second time today and Sasha is right in observing that K has grown quite a bit. She is a little chunk for sure. K seems to like Sasha quite a bit seeing how she was in a poor mood and she was good for Sasha.

The Toothless Wonder

Well, K and I spend time just hanging out these days. Every day that I spend with her makes it harder for me to return to work. I know I have a few more weeks with her and I plan on spending every moment enjoying her, but that still makes it hard. She is so beautiful and every day she does something to make me love her more than the day before. My life must have been so boring before she came into the picture. I know Nate feels the same way. He is beginning to have K withdrawal because he will be heading to Ghana on Friday. Two weeks is quite some time to be away from this little girl and I think daddy is beginning to be homesick for her. Now that she is out of the brace she has begun to roll. She can get halfway, but she hasn't figured out yet how to roll the rest of the way. She also puts her feet together and I think that she enjoys the way her feet feel together. She has never really been able to do that. All I can say is that I love the fact that every waking moment she has she can be free. It is wonderful to see her so happy.

Stylin' Chickie

I thought I would share some of K's stylin' outfits. Doesn't she look cool? She is already trying to roll and she can make it halfway on her own. She uses her feet to really push herself. What an amazing little girl!

It's Independence Day

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen...It's Independence Day!!! That song has been going through my head so much the past day. K's personality is just so different now that she no longer has the brace on 24 hours a day. You thought she was a happy baby before, wait until you see her now. I got to nurse her with just a diaper on and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. I haven't had that in I don't know how long. This is so amazing that sometimes I think I need to pinch myself. The outfit she is sporting today is her freedom outfit. Aunt Amy Wood bought her the halter top and I wanted to save it for today. The blue jeans were bought by me a few weeks ago because I had the hope she would wear them soon. It really is a wonderful day!!!
