K is sitting on the couch like a big girl! Of course, she is attacking Tigger, but that seems to be a thing for her. Who knew she had a vendetta towards the innocent Pooh characters?
Drum roll please...WE HAVE HAIR!!! Last night, Nate was bathing K and when he poured water over her head hair actually showed up! We don't know if we should be happy or sad about that. I was kind of hoping for a bald baby. I think we might shave her head.:) It is looking red so I think we might be in trouble when it comes to temper.
For those of you who don't know, K is a beautiful little girl who was affected by Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS). She was born with a malformed arm and several other problems related to the ABS.

Diaper Helper
Here are some pictures of K helping me with the diaper change. She is such a little helper! We try to get her involved so that she feels like she is doing something. Sure the diaper ends up being wet before we even put it on, but I think that little smile is worth it:) We have to watch her more now because she tries to roll off of the changing table. She is going to be an escape artist once she is out of the brace.

A Day in the Life of...
Daddy felt like he needed a picture with his little rose. This week is crazy because we have VBS (vacation Bible school) every night. So don't be surprised if it takes a little time for us to get new pictures updated on the blog.
K tried her first fruit two days ago. We started with bananas and she seemed to like it well. I tried to get her to eat some today, but she wasn't in the mood. She is doing very well and she has actually rolled a few times when we change her. She also kicks her feet so hard that she moves herself places. It is only a few inches, but it is definitely a great workout for those legs. Hopefully, she won't have much to catch up on once she gets out of this brace. In case I didn't say something earlier, K now gives kisses. She licks your face. It is slimy and a little gross, but I love every minute of it.

The New Look
Well, after a night of playing with the image to make it the right size and then having to figure out how to get the right HTML coding in the template, I got the look good enough for now. Notice the new look. I messed up the old template enough that I thought we might as well start over with a different look. Hope you like it. We may change the location of this blog to a better blog engine. If we do the blog will be located at kroseg.wordpress.com.
Let us know what you think.

Blackmail Pictures
Here K is showing off her "I love daddy" towel. She is looking very dazzling in purple and I might add that she enjoys this time with her daddy. She has a little conehead thing going right now.
Here is K's old man face. She likes chewing on her lips now as well as her tongue. It looks like she is chewing gum sometimes. Unfortunately, I can't capture that in a picture.
You can see the great amount of spit that is around K's mouth. She is blowing big time bubbles now and it is almost pointless to wipe it off because she replaces it with a new level of spit. She is constantly blowing the bubbles and squealing with excitement because she can do it and no one else can. Believe me, I have tried very hard. It is just not something I can do.

Happy Daddy's Day!
K and I had fun on Father's Day yesterday. K gave her daddy a mug and a notepad for his first Father's Day and I gave him a plaque that had K's picture and a poem on it. I am so thankful for Nate because he is a wonderful father. He wants to be a part of K's life and it has been wonderful knowing that he is always there for her no matter what. When K was first born Nate wanted to do so many things for me to make sure I was comfortable and I know that not all father's are like that. I have been greatly blessed in this man. For awhile he was sleeping out in the living room so I could sleep without the baby monitor. That was really great because I was able to get caught up on sleep as well as recuperate after having K. That was a blessing and I know that he sacrificed sleep for me. Of course, now we are all able to sleep (however K is now teething and so she has a harder time going to sleep). Happy Father's Day to everyone else and I hope each of you had a great day yesterday. My grandpa is doing better and he is being waited on hand and foot, which he enjoys greatly, so thank you for the prayers. We appreciate it!

Picture Time
Here is K trying out her piano. She has loved to look at the colors for the longest time, but she has just become aware of the fact that she can play the piano with her feet. She has a great time with it.
Here are some pictures to show you how K enjoys her rice. The bib is incredibly fitting for her. The second picture shows you how eager she is to sample some of this great cuisine.
Here I am playing tug of war with K. She is so fun to play with and I enjoy hearing her laugh. I really think she has the most beautiful voice in the world. Maybe she will be a singer!

Next Appointment
Just wanted to let everyone know that the next appointment for K's hip is July 7th. Fortunately, Nate will be able to be there for this appointment and he will then be heading out for Africa on that Monday. We will keep you updated as to how she is doing.
Reflections
As I sit here thinking of the past few days, I find myself wondering what people would do without God's strength. I would be lying if I were to say that it has been a wonderful adventure. Adventure is a word to describe it, but I think that sometimes it has been more painful than wonderful. K is such a blessing, but it has been a battle to cope with the many things we have had to face. Nate and I want to be the best parents we can for K, but it is hard to feel like good parents when you can't control what your little girl is going through. So many people have told me that the brace is good because it will correct this problem for K and she will not have to have surgery for that, but sometimes it is hard to remember that. Especially when you want to have your little girl in a swimsuit. K will not remember these weeks and I am thankful for that, but it has been hard to know that she will be growing so fast and we don't see all of that because of the brace. Nate did not put this on the blog earlier, but the nurse measured and weighed K at the hospital and she is now up to 12 lbs. And 9 oz. She is also a little over 20 inches in length. She is growing so fast and I don't want to miss a minute of it. I am grateful for all of the prayers and I know Nate is as well. I am waiting to hear back from the hospital to find out when her appointment will be and I am hoping that Nate will be able to go to this one. It is hard to not be there because they give you so much information and sometimes it is hard to remember everything. (especially when it is me)

The Brace
Dr. Love called and I spoke with him a little bit ago. He let me know that K needs to stay in her brace for three more weeks full time at least. Her hip is getting better, but the cup it sits in is not deep enough yet. So three more weeks and then we will take her back for another ultrasound and stressing of her hip. I am praying that this will be three weeks from her appointment which will be either July 3 or 5 (I assume that the 4th is out of the question). I will be heading to Ghana, West Africa the 10 and will not be able to be present for the visit again if the appointment is after that week.
Pooh and K made up
Grrr...
We are still waiting for word about K's brace. I know that many of you are wondering what they will tell us and believe me we are waiting very impatiently. I have called a few times and the doctor who is supposed to contact me either gets called to surgery or just forgets that he needs to call. They are pretty swamped at the Shriners so I understand, but we are ready to know what is going on. My grandpa is also doing pretty well and hopefully they will be taking him off of the respirator today. He doesn't like having the tubes in him and I can't blame him. We are so thankful that he is doing better, but we would appreciate your continued prayers. As soon as we find out something I will post it here for all of you.

Home Again
Above K is playing with her rings and you can see that she is learning to use both arms. She is figuring out the function of her right arm rather well and likes to use it now whenever she has a chance. She also successfully tried to remove my glasses for the first time this morning. What a cute kid!
K and I were hanging out watching the SBC meeting online and then all the sudden K got militant and tried to eat Pooh! I don't know what got into her, but poor Pooh. He almost lost his nose and certainly would have if K had any teeth. When her attempts at relocating Pooh failed, she started pushing him around. Eventually I had to separate them and now K is sleeping it off. I hope they can remain friends.
Seriously Now:
Well, I left the SBC annual meeting to be at home with Christa because of all that is going on in our lives right now. K's doctors have yet to call and let us know anything so we will probably be calling them soon. They said they would call by this morning so I am waiting until this afternoon to get on the phone.
Meanwhile, Christa's grandpa, Fred Woerner, is in the Foley Alabama hospital and we would appreciate your prayers for him. He had emergency surgery and is not out of the woods yet.

Shriners Update June 13
Hey everyone,
Well, K is still in the brace for the moment. The doctor is going to consult with the other physicians this afternoon and they are going to decide when we will begin weaning K off of the harness. The ultrasound looked very good, but they don't want K possibly pulling on the hip and undoing the progress. She did very well and right now she is talking away, but hopefully the doctors will decide that she will be able to spend some time out of the harness each day. I really want her to have some time when she is completely free. I am waiting for a call from them this afternoon or tomorrow morning so I will post something the minute I find out. Thanks for all of the prayers.

Daddy this is for you
Daddy isn't here and you can see that mommy and I are having fun even though we miss him already. I had some tummy time and I talked to the fish in my mat, but sometimes I just need a break. Right now I am squealing on my play mat and talking to Tigger. Great-grandma gave me a great Tigger last time I was down in Alabama.
Daddy has found that I really like the guitar. I like to watch the strings, but most of all I love hearing daddy sing to me. He must really love me!
You can't see it, but I have a wonderful smile on my face. Daddy is singing a great song, but I don't understand it yet. Someday I will:) We miss you daddy.

Daddy is Back!
I was bummed all week because I was not with K. The only time I saw her was Tuesday when we took the youth to Gulf Shores and met up with K and Christa's family for dinner and then went to their home to celebrate two of our youth's B-days. It is great to be home and hold my baby girl again. She has grown in a week! Christa will hear nothing of it, but it is true. Scarry! She loves her rings as you can see above. She even kinda has them figured out. So Cute!!!!!!!

Pictures from Vacation
Here K is modeling the fish face. Those squishy cheeks are just irresistible. K and I had a great time with my family and we look forward to seeing them in July.
I wanted to post this picture because it shows how K is using her right arm already. She uses it to move things over to her left hand so that she can then push it to her mouth. We think she is teething because she has become a drooling machine and she wants to put anything and everything in her mouth.
Here is Aunt Amy going fishing. K loves these chains. She has learned to grab things that are dangled in front of her and then of course they go straight to the mouth. Plus, when you shake the chains she gets quite excited.
I don't know how to explain these faces, but they are hilarious. K is fascinated with her lips and tongue. She sucks in her bottom lip and as a result you can see her face transforms into a chipmunk. Talk about adorable. This little girl is the light of our life.
Please be praying for us as we will be going to the Shriner's on Tuesday for an ultrasound. I don't know what will happen and I am trying to be prepared for more time in the brace, but I honestly just want my little girl to be able to roll over and kick her little legs whenever she wants to. I will let you know how things go with the appointment. Nate will be at a convention during that time and so I will be either going alone or with someone from the church.

Greetings from Down Under
Sorry about not sending out any pictures lately. This is one that I stole from Uncle Eric's computer. K and I are in Alabama with my parents because Nate is in Mobile, AL for camp with the youth from church. We figured that grandmom and granddaddy might like some quality time. Some of you that faithfully check the blog have finally gotten to meet our little rose. I know that all of you are in love with her as well, which is only natural seeing as how she is so adorable. Pictures will not be coming until I get back because I cannot get my computer to work on the Internet here. You will just have to stay tuned for the adventures of K.

Growing Up:(
K is beginning to teeth now and so she tries to put everything in her mouth. She really enjoyed the cold teething ring rubbing on her gums. As you can see, it hasn't dampened her personality one bit. She is still a camera hog.
Yesterday we gave K rice cereal for the first time. Daddy wanted to feed her first because I technically fed her for the very first time. I guess it is only fair. K didn't know what to think of the rice. She didn't spit it all out right away, so we think she might be ready to have it on a consistent basis.
K says yummy. You can't really appreciate this picture, but her face is covered in rice cereal and her bib is dripping wet. She enjoyed blowing bubbles with the cereal. I think it was a fun sensation for her. It sure was fun to just watch her.
Here's K and daddy enjoying a heart-to-heart talk. She is becoming such a beautiful little girl, no longer our itty bitty baby. She is out of newborn clothes and most 0-3 months. It is sad too because she wasn't able to wear all of her outfits due to the brace. Please pray that she will get out of this thing soon. I want her to wear a bikini this summer!
