Sweet Home Alabama

I get to Alabama and the first thing grandmom does is put me to work!!! Can you believe it? I think I should report this or something.
K enjoyed her swing and actually was shocked when she saw her playground. The C family surprised us with this when we arrived on Friday. They also left us a cute little turtle sandbox. We will be playing in that tomorrow!
Now all she needs is an eyepatch! Aaargh me matey.
Pictured above is K enjoying her ball pit. This was another gift from the C family!!! You guys shouldn't have, but K is definitely not complaining:) We really appreciate it.
Things are going well here. K is adjusting and she is enjoying the family. We go visiting great-grandpa every day to keep him company. Please keep him and my grandma in your prayers. He is having trouble sitting still and it is a little draining on my grandma as well as my aunts.
K is learning more animal noises and she can now moo like a cow and "neigh" like a horse.

Here We Are!

Well, we are here in Alabama! We have gotten ourselves fairly situated and things are going better. K finally has her room set up and she is not as stressed as when we first arrived. It has been hard on her the past few weeks and hopefully grandparent time will help:) We are so grateful for my parents opening their home to us and we are using this time to just figure out where to go next. Pictures will be coming so just wait!

Ready to Head Out!

Here is how K is handling her wrapping. She threw off her cast and the doctor decided that there was no point in putting a new cast on. She has figured it out once, there is no stopping her now. We go back on Thursday for them to check it out, but other than that we won't go back to Shriners until October. Unheard of for us!
K is doing alright, but we are all sick right now. She is having an asthmatic reaction, mostly due to a cold that her mommy gave her (sorry) and the high pollen count. We are hoping that moving to Alabama will actually help her out. Other than that, we are doing okay. We are going to really miss the people here and it is beginning to sink in that we will be heading out the end of this week. I need to get my theme music ready: Sweet Home Alabama.

P.S. To all of my graduating seniors, congratulations! Please keep in touch with me. I would love to hear how you each are doing.

Happy Anniversary Daddy & Mommy!

Daddy and Mommy have been married for five years today. So I thought I would give them a present. What a great idea! Here it is.

They were so surprised when the found it this morning. As they say, whoever they are, I got em good. For some reason they quickly wrapped up my little hand again. They are so silly. Like I wont get that off too!

A Rough Day

1. K started to pull her cast off. Nate took her to Shriners, where they put on a new cast because she had indeed moved the old one down. The wound does look good however and we will get to have it taken off May 29.
2. When K got home, she did a face dive at the recliner. She now has a bruised and bloody nose. Fortunately, she bounced back.
3. We found out that great-grandpa Woerner is not doing the best. Please pray for him and the rest of my family.
4. K took another face dive at hit a cardboard box. She now has a goose-egg/scratched/bloodied forehead. Fortunately, she bounced back.
5. All the pollen in the air is causing K's asthma to act up. However, she is so smart she does her treatments herself.
6. I have had to pack up my classroom because we are moving. Depressing day.
7. Haven't reached that number yet, but sure it will come the way K has been today. Don't want to say she is a klutz, but what can you really say about a bloodied little girl with a hot pink cast?
Seriously, K is doing much better now that she has a more comfortable cast on and we are excited that she will be getting her cast off early. Our life is complicated, but I think we are so used to it that almost nothing is unusual anymore:) Wouldn't trade this little rugrat for any other child in the world. She's ours. Below is a picture to show you just how rough this day has been.

To All Mothers

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful mothers out there. I am enjoying my Mother's Day today. K let me sleep in and she made me a wonderful award on the computer. I am truly blessed with a wonderful daughter and a loving husband. For my own mom, I know now what all those sacrifices were that you did for me. Thank you and this picture is for you. K has sent you and Momma G something in the mail, but it might take a day or two. Surgery kind of slowed us down a little. Once again everyone, Happy Mother's Day!!!
P.S. Uncle Eric, Happy Birthday (1/4 of a century--wow you are old;))

Check out my Cast!

This is what happens when you don't behave;)
K found her way into the kennel and she thought it was hilarious.
As you can see, K is doing just fine in her cast. She walks around, eats anything, and just enjoys being a wild little lady.
Here K is showing off her walking skills. She can go just about any where now.

Our Little Trooper

So the only "problem" K is having after surgery is some seperation anxiety at bedtime. I don't know if it is from waking up after surgery and not having us there or not. The past two nights have been ROUGH when it comes to going to sleep. Other than that all is great!
Here she is eating a snack in her favorite chair.
Now she is checking her blog to see if anyone put a comment on there for her. She got distracted by seeing her face on a grown up woman.
Here she is walking around and showing off her crazy skills when it comes to walking around with her cup.

My Own Little Wonderwoman

So as I was sitting here this afternoon reflecting on my strong little girl I was reminded of a heroine from days gone by. Wonderwoman was my hero as a child and I remember wanting to be just like her. I thought it was appropriate that K is our own little Wonderwoman. Obviously, the picture doesn't do her justice, but thought all of you could use a laugh. I couldn't breathe earlier. Little more composed now, but this is one picture that is going to warp her for life.

Home Again, Home Again

We are home from Shriners! K did really well with her surgery to say the least. Her surgery was the first of the morning, with her going in around 7:30. The surgery lasted for about an hour and the doctor was very pleased with how things went. She has less pain medication, but she seems to be handling it well. We will post some pictures of her new little hot pink cast. She is a trooper and she has surprised everyone at the hospital with how well she did with the surgery. Only about 30 minutes after we were able to see her she was ready to go anywhere but the room. We had to wheel her around in a wagon for awhile because she had an IV in her foot and other gadgets connected to her. After she was able to get the IV out we went for some major Little Tike riding. She let everyone know of her presence and we were so grateful that we would be able to come home and let her sleep in her own bed (which she is doing right now-in the brace and cast). K constantly amazes me because I know she is little and doesn't really know what is going on, but I can't help thinking she has a strength that most people never reach. I know if I had surgery and had a cast I'd be moaning and groaning like a little baby:) We are so thankful for all of the prayers and cards that have been sent our way. The cast will be taken off June 5, so we are trying to figure out when we will be moving. Stay tuned for more pictures!

Surgery...Tomorrow!!!

Here K is showing off her bumblebees!!! She is walking all over the place now.
We also occasionally walk on our knees. Not sure why, but it must feel cool.
Don't you wish you knew what I was thinking?
This is my Jimmy Buffet shirt. Check out my fuzzy hair:)

Surgery is tomorrow. We have to get there at 6:30 in the morning, but K is not able to have any liquids after 4 am. So we are going to wake her up, give her juice, and then go from there. Hopefully she will be able to go home tomorrow, but if not we are prepared for a stay. She is such a little trooper that we know she will do well. I imagine much better than her mother:) This little girl is such a blessing and sometimes we are definitely reminded of that fact. Going into surgery is one of those times. Our life has been flipped upside down, but in a way that we wouldn't trade for the world. We will let all of you know how she is doing tomorrow.

Happy May Day!

K is showing off her bathrobe. Check out those legs!
Sometimes I'm so cute I don't know what to do.
Here I am playing my Fisher Price game. It's pretty cool because all I have to do is bang on the computer! Stuff just pops up!
Close-up of me in my cool shades.
Here I am on the way to the zoo. Stay tuned for some really "WILD" pictures!
